Medical Student Electives

Well Travelled Clinics offers a service to medical students from Liverpool University and Lancaster University going on an medical student placement overseas.

Medical electives will be informed by their faculty if they need to attend the travel clinic for travel advice in relation to their electives. The travel clinic will reserve appointment slots specifically for medical students in January and February each year. Medical student electives should telephone: 0151 705 3223 to make an appointment.

Each student needs to carry out a risk assessment of their proposed elective. It is important that you try to determine your health risks while abroad and the vaccines and malaria prophylaxis you may require. In order to assist you with this please refer to the web-links and book references given below, which you may find helpful. In addition, there follows a number of information leaflets you should read prior to your visit.

Medical Electives are charged £16 per person to be seen, assessed and have their risk assessment form approved and stamped at the travel clinic. Medical students will also be offered discount vouchers off the price of any vaccines they purchase.
