COVID 19

COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) PCR and antibody testing

Do NOT attend the clinic if you have Covid-19 symptoms – continuous cough, high temperature, loss of smell or taste. Contact your GP, or call NHS 111 or use the online service - https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/

Available in our Liverpool & Chester clinics

If you need to have a test for either occupational or leisure travel purposes, you must check with your travel company/airline and country destination how soon the test needs to be completed before arrival at your destination and what information the country specifies is required on your certificate. Remember that if you are stopping over en-route to your final destination, you will need to look at the requirements for the stop-over country, as well as those for your final destination.

It is the responsibility of the traveller to check the above requirements.

Please note, that to enter most countries you need to have a valid negative PCR test. (The point of care Lateral flow antigen tests are not accepted as proof of COVID-19 status by many countries) - check before you travel which type of test is approved by the country you are travelling to/transiting through.

UK Government guidance on Travel and Coronavirus (COVID-19) can be found here:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-advice-novel-coronavirus

The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) currently advises against all but essential travel to many countries and territories on the basis of COVID risks. You should check the travel advice for your destination.

Travel disruption is possible worldwide. Other countries may bring in new measures with little notice such as border closures, movement restrictions or quarantine rules. Travellers should be prepared to stay overseas longer than planned.

COVID-19 Antibody test (IgG):*For Occupational Travel Purposes ONLY
Price: £75
Turnaround time: 1-2 days

An antibody test can tell whether a person has been previously infected. Most patients who recover from coronavirus have been found to produce antibodies, but it is not yet known if an individual with a positive result showing presence of IgG levels following being infected with SARS-CoV-2 will be protected, either fully or partially from future infection, or for how long protective immunity may last.

Testing should be undertaken 14 days or more following exposure or onset of symptoms. The incubation period of COVID-19 ranges from between 1 to 14 days, with the majority of cases manifesting with symptoms at 3 - 5 days.
